Always the First

Spring is still quite a way off, but our ornamental cherry tree is always the first to let us know it's on it's way. It's bright yellow blossoms open earlier than any other flower, and it's always a very welcome sight to see the cheery blooms. I think we're all yearning for Springs's arrival!!!

Chickadee

Chickadees are bold little birds. They sit in the cherry tree right next to their feeder when I fill it up with their seeds for the day ... chattering away impatiently until I am done and it is ready. Today, I noticed that at least one of them added to their typical chick-a-dee-dee-dee song with a wee-wee-wee at the end … it was very funny!!!

Ten Years Today

It was 10 years ago on Feb. 8, 2010 that my daughter Desirae donated her kidney and the medical team at Johns Hopkins Hospital performed a successful transplant operation. I will be forever grateful to all involved in this life saving procedure that's kept me going strong for a decade and counting! I'm especially grateful to my husband Kevin for standing by me every step of the way. His love and support made the difficult bearable, and his encouragement kept me believing in better days to come … and they've kept coming!!! And, even though we live on opposite coasts, my lifelong friend Debbie was there in spirit cheering me on and lending her support, too. She even honored the 10 year milestone with a lovely bracelet. I like the similarity of colors and the circular form in both the thank you and the bracelet. Now, it's on to another 10 years!!!
