A Special Day

Today, is my husband's birthday. I've got his favorite carrot cake baking in the oven right now. We'll enjoy it tonight after coming home from a Peruvian restaurant for his birthday dinner. The first part of the day, we had beautiful sunshine. For the later part we're expecting showers. Earlier, I got outside and took a few photos around the yard. The roses were especially pretty today for Kevin's birthday!

Eye Dazzler

It's been another wet spring this year, and the flowers are loving it. Our rhododendron bush is now in full bloom, and its bright pink blossoms are huge!

Backyard Buddies

This spring, a pair of catbirds set up residence in our backyard. Their calls truly sound like cat meows, and these birds love to "chat." When I'm outside in my garden, they keep a close eye on me and carry on a running conversation. When I was done with my outside work and was back inside my study today, I gazed out my window and discovered one of the catbirds was making good use of the bird bath. He or she was totally immersed in the water, and from all the splashing going on, I would say the catbird totally enjoyed its bath :) A bit later, I went back out to take some photos, and though they're a bit camera shy, I managed to get a few photos of the catbird in the peach tree.
