Sunny & Shimmery

It remains cold today, but the sun is shining brightly.  Yesterday's coating of ice still encapsulates berries and branches. The sun makes everything sparkle and shimmer.  It's magical!

Icy Cold

Today, we awoke to a wintry white world.  The snow fell and layered the earth with about 3 inches of white fluff before it turned to icy rain.  Now, the ground and tree branches are covered in ice.

A Study in Contrasts

We got just a little more than a dusting of snow today, but its arrival left an artistry that is very pretty in its contrasts of tone and texture.

Indoor Antidote

We've experienced a string of gray winter days. During this time of year, when outdoor color is at a minimum, it's so nice to have the company of colorful house plants. Our African Violets are bright and cheery. Their intense, vibrant colors lift the spirit!

Winter Walk

Winter, in its starkness, displays a special beauty all its own.  I took the following photos on a walk outdoors today.

Whitetail Winter

A family of deer came through our front yard today, looking happy and healthy ... always good to see, especially in the winter months which can be rough on wildlife as far as finding enough food.  These two deer, a mom and one of her young, are actually chubby.  No doubt they've been fed well by the abundance of acorns that fell last autumn.
